CUSD Differentiated General Curriculum for Students who are Identified

  • Elementary School: Elementary students (fourth and fifth grade only) who are identified may be strategically cluster grouped with other students who are identified and/or students who are high performing in the regular classroom setting.

  • Middle School: Middle school students who are identified as GATE will be placed in accelerated language arts and social science classes with other students who meet the accelerated course performance criteria.  All 6-8th-grade students may also be placed in an accelerated mathematics class if they meet the District’s placement criteria as determined by the CUSD math placement assessment.  For the specific criteria for accelerated 6-8th-grade courses, please contact your child's academic advisor at his/her middle school. Academic Advisors will have placement criteria for the 18-19 school year by early-mid May 2018. Information will also be posted on middle school websites. Middle school academic advisors facilitate accelerated course placement for all students.

  • High School: High School students who are identified will be placed in accelerated, Advanced Placement (AP), and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes if they meet the District’s placement criteria for those classes. For the specific criteria for accelerated, AP and/or IB classes, please contact your child's academic advisor at his/her high school.
