CHROMEBOOKS

Chromebooks make a definite, positive impact on learning in the classroom. Students are on task more and time is not wasted transitioning to a computer lab. The students are utilizing this wonderful tool throughout most days for research, typing practice, math, writing, etcetera. We are excited to be utilizing today's technology for education. Students will become more and more proficient using their Chromes as the year goes on. Parents are able to look at their child's Chrome account to see what they are working on at school.

YOUR STUDENT CAN ACCESS THEIR CHROME ACCOUNT AT HOME. JUST DOWNLOAD GOOGLE CHROME TO SEE YOUR STUDENT'S ACCOUNT.

ST Math Goals

Students will be rewarded with a pizza party if they reach the goal.

There are three goals to reach:

33% by Nov. 15

66% by Feb. 28

100% by May 28

CLASS NEEDS

*Students benefit greatly if they can bring HEADPHONES for their Chromebooks.

* Kleenex/Tissues

*Baby Wipes-  We wipe down desks every Friday to keep germs away. It is surprising how dirty the desks are by Friday. Baby wipes are used by the students to clean their desks, so they are not exposed to any harmful chemicals.

WORD STUDY: vocabulary & spelling

Students will be responsible for learning a list of 12 words per week. We will be working on using affixes, Latin and  Greek roots, and base words to understand the meanings and spellings of words. Vocabulary and spelling quizzes will be on Fridays this year. (We adjust spelling and vocabulary quizzes as needed due to holidays, etc.)

Words are on Quizlet for students to study with online activities: https://quizlet.com/join/mtHYMDXme

STUDY GEOGRAPHY

Fifth graders will be learning the 50 states and capitals this year. In a few weeks we will begin learning 2-3 per week. Students need to  use their study guide. Geography quizzes will be on Thursday mornings. Here are some links to aid studying:
