Mrs. Garritson's Locker

Our Current Read-aloud

Wonder, by R.J. Palacio

August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. WONDER, now a #1 New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.

Meet Mrs. Garritson

This year I will welcome my 31st class!  I have been fortunate to spend my teaching career with the awesome students at Concordia Elementary School. I have enjoyed teaching every grade, from kindergarten through sixth.  This year I look forward to teaching Concordia's fabulous fifth grade scholars once again!  I love reading, traveling, and hiking in the hills of San Clemente.  I'm happy to be on this educational journey with the students! I hope to encourage all students to love learning and view themselves as life long learners, readers, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. I am excited to partner with Mrs. Turner this year, and we look forward to welcoming our new class together.
